OUR CHARITY WORK
Be Friendly
At Maria Nila, we believe animals should never be part of human vanity. That's why all our products are 100% vegan and come in CO₂-compensated packaging. In addition, we partner with Plan Vivo to offset the total CO₂ emissions from our entire operation. Since 2017, this initiative has helped plant 1.2 million m² of forest. Read more about our climate compensation here.
The philosophy of choosing friendly goes beyond our products—we care deeply for the world around us. Every year, starting on World Vegan Day on November 1st, we launch a new season of our Be Friendly charity project, raising funds for a specific wildlife cause. The project is run together with our partner and trusted wildlife charity organization The Perfect World Foundation, that supports and works to save animals and nature. With the support of our community of customers and salons, Be Friendly has contributed to numerous charities and causes around the world..
Maria Nila for Wild Horses

GET TO KNOW THE MUSTANGS
For Be Friendly 2026, we are focusing on one of the most powerful symbols of freedom: the wild mustangs of the American West.
Descended from horses brought by Spanish explorers more than 500 years ago, mustangs have adapted to life on the open plains, living in close family herds led by strong mares and protective stallions.
Today, fewer than 50,000 mustangs remain in the wild. Many face roundups, family separation, and loss of habitat. Protecting them means preserving not only a species but the spirit of freedom and resilience they represent.

MARIA NILA x SKYDOG RANCH & SANCTUARY
Through Be Friendly 2026, Maria Nila partners with Skydog Ranch & Sanctuary, a U.S. non-profit that rescues wild mustangs and burros from neglect, roundups, and kill pens.
Founded in 2016, Skydog provides forever homes for rescued horses across sanctuaries in Oregon and California, reuniting families and giving them a safe, natural life together.
Their work stands as a powerful voice for wild horse protection and the right of every animal to live freely and with dignity.

MEET SUNNY & BIRCH
This year, Maria Nila supports Skydog’s mission through donations raised via The Perfect World Foundation, helping ensure better living conditions for rescued mustangs.
Among them are Sunny and Birch, two young brothers who once roamed freely before being rounded up and sold. When they appeared in a Texas kill pen, Skydog intervened and saved them.
Now heading to Skydog’s Malibu sanctuary, they will finally get the care, freedom, and family life they deserve. Their story is a reminder of the difference compassion and community can make.
