WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOUR HAIR TO USE THE PRODUCTS IN THE RIGHT ROUTINE?

We use a shampoo to clean out dirt, oil and residual products to be able to open the hair and infuse it with nutrients. We always recommend that you use the shampoo twice, as the first usage cleanse the outer layer of the hair. The second shampooing opens the hair, and enables nutrients penetrate the core of the hair, strengthening it. There is another great benefit of shampooing the hair twice, as the second application cleanse out the scalp, removing any residual products and promoting good conditions for scalp health. Maria Nila shampoos have a PH of 6-6.5, which enables the shampoo to open the hair stands and prepare it for the masque.

The masque is used to boost the hair with nutrients and to restore the health of the hair. When you wash your hair, the shampoo forces the hair to become “semi-open”, allowing nutrients to penetrate the hair and start the restorative process. What kind of masque you need is individual and depends on the needs of your unique hair. All Maria Nila hair masques have a pH of 5-5.5 which is the skin and hairs natural pH level. They are all are softening, moisturizing and restorative for hair health. Use the masque for minimum three minutes and up to twenty.

Conditioner is always used as the last product when washing the hair, to close of the nutrition in the hair and to protect it. The low pH of 4-4.5 forces the outer layer of the hair to close, protecting it and giving it a shiny finish. All Maria Nila conditioners contains active ingredients to further boost the softness, shine and health of the hair. Leave the conditioner on the hair for a couple of minutes to initiate the process of closing the outer layer.

Why do we need to recommend the procedure of using shampoo, masque and then conditioner? The shampoo cleans the hair and opens the outer layer, creating the perfect circumstances for the masque to work. The masque can now penetrate the open hair strands and fill it with nutrients, boosting the health of the hair. The conditioner can now close of the hair and seal all the nutrients inside the hair. By closing the outer layer, your hair becomes healthier, softer and shinier.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF INCORPORATING A MASQUE INTO YOUR HAIRCARE ROUTINE?

A deeply nourishing hair treatment can make a big difference in the shine and strength of your hair. It’s particularly important if you have dry, damaged, frizzy or very long hair. Maria Nila’s hair masques are packed with hydrating and restorative ingredients to help your hair. Unlike a regular conditioner that rests on the surface of the strand, a masque penetrates the surface and affects the inside of your hair. Regular application of a hair masque will impact shine, helping with manageability and work to nourish the cuticle.

In order to get the most out of your masque, you must know your hair type:

Normal hair: Luminous Colour masque
Dry or wavy/curly: True Soft masque
Damaged or chemically treated: Structure Repair masque
Dry/dandruff/sensitive scalp: Head & Hair Heal masque
Thin/flat hair: Pure Volume masque
In need of restoration from build up and deep cleansing: Eco Therapy Revive masque
Yellow tones and lacking shine: Sheer Silver masque

People with oily hair usually do not need a conditioning treatment unless the hair is badly damaged, and if so, we recommend focusing on a restorative protein masque, such as Structure repair. If you are experiencing a very dry scalp, we recommend using the Head & Hair Heal as a beneficial treatment to sooth the scalp and infuse it with moisture.

MIX & MATCH TO TARGET ALL NEEDS

All the above being said, we rarely come across clients with one need only.
Nowadays, we expose our hair to all kinds of damaging scenarios. We get colour treatments, we use heat tools, we expose our hair to sunlight and free radicals, and we wash our hair much more than we really need to. Luckily, we can solve it all with some well thought out mix & match! Let us look at a few scenarios of how to mix and match:

Scenario nr 1.

Hair texture: Fine & naturally curly
Chemically treated: Highlights
Scalp: Normal

Maria Nila recommends:
Shampoo: Sheer Silver shampoo
Hair Masque: Structure Repair masque
Conditioner: True Soft conditioner
Leave in: True soft argan oil

Why?
Curly hair is naturally dry and in need of a lot of added moisture to preserve the hairs natural texture and to avoid frizz. Due to the high lights we want to take the maintenance of cool pigments into the equation. We also want to give the curls the extra moisture it needs, and to top it all off we want to strengthen the hair after the bleach-treatment. By combining products from three different Maria Nila hair care series we can target everything your hair needs.

Scenario nr 2.

Hair texture: coarse & naturally curly
Chemically treated: high lights
Scalp: dry

Maria Nila recommends:
Shampoo: Head & Hair Heal shampoo
Hair Masque: True Soft masque
Conditioner: True Soft conditioner
Leave in: True Soft argan oil

Why?
Coarse and naturally curly hair truly can’t get enough moisture! We recommend our Head & Head Shampoo to work actively on scalp issues. Followed by True Soft masque, conditioner and Argan oil to give the naturally dry texture the ultimate boost to preserve its natural curls.

Scenario nr 3.

Hair texture: normal & straight
Chemically treated: coloured
Scalp: dandruff

Maria Nila recommends:
Shampoo: Head & Hair Heal shampoo
Hair Masque: Head & Hair Heal masque
Conditioner: Head & Hair Heal conditioner
Leave in: Luminous Colour hair lotion

Why?
We recommend using the complete Head & Hair Heal series to combat the dandruff. We choose to target the specific need, which in this case is dandruff. Head & Hair Heal will give the client the care and moisture it needs, paired together with the Luminous Colour hair lotion to give the coloured hair that extra treatment and protective layer to make sure the colour treatment stays for longer.

Scenario nr 4.

Hair texture: naturally wavy & dry
Chemically treated: high lights
Scalp: normal

Maria Nila recommends:
Shampoo: Sheer Silver shampoo
Hair Masque: Structure Repair masque
Conditioner: Sheer Silver conditioner
Leave in: True Soft argan oil

Why?
Clients with highlighted hair often need both moisture, added strength, and a shampoo that will preserve and prolong the cool blonde tones. In this case we suggest maintaining the cool tones by adding a Silver Shampoo to your daily routine. Due to the lightening service, the hair is in need of extra strength, which is why we recommend a restorative protein masque as a part of your weekly routine. To preserve client’s natural curls, we also recommend using our Maria Nila Argan oil as a nourishing leave in treatment.
